Physical & Outdoor Education

We provide opportunities for children to develop a variety of personal, social and physical skills through our Physical Education and Outdoor Education programs.

Physical Education Program

Our Physical Education Program encompasses the areas of body co-ordination, endurance, ball skills, athletics, as well as major and minor ball games.  These facets are designed to build up body strength, mobility, flexibility and fundamental skills.  It is therefore essential that children be suitably dressed to enable maximum participation and benefit.

The school provides opportunities for sporting excellence with representative teams competing in many sporting areas.

House Competition & LRPS Athletics Sports

Our school sports houses are:

Traralgon District Athletics

Our school is part of the Traralgon cluster along with the other state, catholic and private primary schools in Traralgon.  Each year our children compete in their age groups in the Traralgon District Sports Day held at the Harold Preston Little Athletics field.

Zone Athletics

Children who place 1st or 2nd in their event at the Traralgon District Athletics are invited to compete at the Inter-School Athletics Carnival at Newborough.

Winter Sport

During Term 2, together with Traralgon District schools, we run a winter sport program.  Combined teams play a variety of team sports including football, netball, T-ball hockey and soccer.

Summer Sport

During Term 4, together with Traralgon District schools, we run a summer sport program.  Combined teams play a variety of team sports including Kanga Cricket and basketball. We also participate in the harmony 8’s cricket carnival where our indigenous and ESL students and an invited friend, compete against other Gippsland schools.

School Outdoors Education Program

The school has developed an excellent program for children in years 3 to 6.  We endeavour to provide opportunities and the experiences for children to develop a variety of personal, social and physical skills in an environment differing from the home and school surrounds.

Our program fosters the development of the child’s appreciation of out-door experiences, awareness of the natural environment, experience in the range of skills required to cope with this environment, and establishes a foundation for future recreation attitudes and activities.
